Life Under Grace: April 2012

I have exciting news!!! I want to shout it from the roof tops, put it on the front page, run a commercial. I am going to LONDON!!!! Well, I'm planning to go to London, Lord willing (and the creek don't rise). Another exciting part is that you can help me in my endeavor. Please continue reading to find out how.

Hello My Dear Family and Friends!

Can you believe it is the end of April? It boggles my mind how we got here so quickly, yet here we are with summer fast approaching and temperatures already alluding to its presence. I pray this year has been filled with God’s grace and goodness to you. There has been an overwhelming presence of his grace and goodness in my own life as He has continued to stir in my heart a passion to serve Him. A song that has echoed in my heart resounding through this year is I Give Myself Away. The lyrics say “My life is not my own, to You I belong, I give myself to You.”

With that being said, I would like to share with you an amazing opportunity I have to serve the Lord in London. He blessed me to be a part of His work in San Jose, Costa Rica in 1999. In 2004 and 2005 as a part of a traveling drama troupe I was given the grace to minister in Switzerland, Italy, and France. In the years following I felt the Lord impressing upon my heart to consider giving myself away to Him to serve internationally indefinitely. In 2011 I had the opportunity to meet a missionary couple from my church, New City Fellowship- St. Louis, living in London, serving in a South Asian community. Through this meeting I committed myself to the London Bridge team with New City and began praying for and reading about the work being done in London. This summer the agency this couple is serving with, World Harvest Mission, is sending a team to London. Though I discovered this trip much later than others going and therefore am behind, I would be blessed to be a part of this team and am praying for God’s direction.

For many years New City has been involved in international missions. Many have traveled to Peru, Congo, Kenya, Pakistan, India, London, and West Africa to serve the Lord. The vision statement of New City is as follows:

Vision Statement: The International Missions Team exists to enable the members of new City Fellowship to partner with the global church for the advancement of the Gospel by preaching grace and doing justice in their local communities; and whenever called by God, to participate in starting new churches in the unreached communities of the world.

Through embracing this vision statement and studying The Acts of the Apostles in Bible Study Fellowship I believe I am to serve the Lord in this capacity this summer.

London Evangelism And Prayer (LEAP) is scheduled for July 9^th through July 16^th. LEAP is a time to partner with WHM’s church- planting work in London’s South Asian communities and to engage in prayer and ministry to London’s Muslims, Hindus, and Sikhs. The team, gathered from around the world, will visit Hindu temples, Sikh gurdwaras, Muslim mosques, and Indian shops. A large portion of the trip will consist of participating in extended times of prayer both privately and through prayer walks. There will also be structured training and times of testimony, fellowship, and worship. As we take the time to pray for this community we will also be given time to engage with it through door-to-door evangelism and God ordained meetings. It is my prayer that God would renew my vision of the missionary nature and purposes of God and His church. And that through this renewal He would give me, personally, a vision for how He could use me to reach the nations with His Gospel.

We are praying to the Lord of the Harvest to send forth laborers into the harvest field of London. Laboring for the Lord brings many challenges. As brothers and sisters in Christ, we need to encourage one another, spurring one another on in good deeds for the sake of Christ, that His justice, His righteousness, and His love might be revealed.

In committing my desire to the Lord to travel with the team to London, I have asked Him to make known His will to me through the response of His people. I cannot make this trip without your help. I would like to invite you to join the Lord in His work in London by carefully considering and praying about supporting me. Securing a position on the team would require that I raise about $2200 (pending airfare between $1000 and $1275; the trip fee: $925).

I know my request comes at a very challenging time for most of us. Resources are lacking for so many. And yet, I am also very familiar with a God who is able to provide more than we need (Philippians 4:19); in fact, He is able and willing to do exceedingly more than we can ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). I know that if He wants me to join this team, He will provide. So it is with this confidence that I make my request. I would greatly appreciate any offer of financial and prayer support. My goal is to have financial support submitted by the end of May.
